Requiem
As evening shadows fall
And landscapes slowly fade from sight…
I silently watch my peers slip into that good night.
As I remain behind a billion thoughts rush through my mind:
How short the beauty of a summer day…
How soon the birds decide to fly away…
How terrible a waste the unproductive day…
How cold the void of nice things we forgot to say…
How sad those tasks undone because the time just got away…
And so I make this promise to the night;
That I will live and drink and love each day away
And cherish every moment of my life
And never easily give up even the most futile fight
Until the moment of that final fade of light.
