I am the sun setting in the evening’s sky

tinting clouds pink with my good-bye.

I wait the birds who soon will dance the sky,

diving and rising as they wave bye-bye.

There are no answers here–

just simple beauty to enjoy

as all the creatures celebrate a passing day

with not a thought of asking why.

 

 My wife and I walk by the quiet lake

enjoy the sun, the birds,

and every single breath we take.
